Due to severe drought conditions, the BVS Gun Range will be CLOSED for fire season, beginning IMMEDIATELY.
According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, the Tehachapi area and 95% of Kern County are rated at “D4 exceptional drought”, which is the most severe drought category. Daily temps at the Gun Range are regularly reaching 100+ degrees, with low humidity and breezy conditions. Other reasons compound the need to close the range, but the main issue is extreme fire danger.
The BVS Gun Range will re-open in the fall months when we start to see precipitation again, and when the daily temps begin to drop.
We apologize for the inconvenience and we hope you have a safe summer!
